How can I join?

The WVU Western Equestrian Club hosts a meeting at the beginning of each semester as an interest meeting. To learn more follow our Instagram @wvuwesternequestrian or email us at wvuwesternteam@gmail.com!

What kind of riding is offered?

The WVU Western Equestrian Team shows in horsemanship along with a ranch riding and reining option if you are placed into these levels. We do not offer barrel racing or roping.

Where do we ride?

We ride with Bobby Dean in Morgantown, WV off of the Grafton Road exit.

What is IHSA?

IHSA welcomes beginners through advanced riders in the hunter and Western disciplines to compete individually or on a team. IHSA eliminates the expenses of horse ownership. Horses are furnished by host colleges and are chosen by drawing lots. The format fairly tests the horsemanship of the athletes. Divisions range from Beginner to the Open Division for the more experienced riders.

Do I have to have riding experience to join?

No! The WVU Western Team is open to all experience levels. Whether you have never been on a horse or have won championships there is a place for you to learn!

How do I get placed into my level for showing?

IHSA offers a placement form that you will take prior to the first show. Based on this form which takes into account previous show and general riding experience plus Bobby's judgment you will be placed into a level.

What attire is required to show?
